With double-digit growth YOY, the 117 year old brand, New Balance, is working on becoming the third largest sneaker brand worldwide. In Paris, New Balance has sponsored 85 athletes, including Coco Gauff and two-time Olympic track-and-field medalist Gabby Thomas. Meanwhile, brands young and revamped are looking to old school brick and mortar partnerships for expansion – Savage X Fenty with Nordstrom, KiwiCo with Target and Barnes & Noble and Motherhood with Kohl’s.

'INNOVATION MOVES'

Target is holding a chain-wide “Denim Take Back Event”, allowing customers to recycle up to five articles of used denim from any brand in any condition for a 20% promo code off new denim apparel. The retail giant is pitching the event as a way to reduce waste and save money in time for back-to-school shopping. (Retail Brew)

New Balance plans to reach $10 billion in sales in the next few years, up from $6.5 billion in 2024. Expanding further into sports like basketball, tennis and football is one way the brand expects to unlock further growth. (Business of Fashion)

After primarily selling through its own website for over 10 years, children’s education brand KiwiCo is finally launching in brick-and-mortar by entering Barnes & Noble and Target stores this month. (Modern Retail)

Motherhood, the brand previously known as Motherhood Maternity, has been overhauled by owner Marquee Brands. The change is not just its name and logo, but also its marketing and fashion design and a newly announced partnership with Kohl’s. (Retail Dive)

Savage X Fenty, the Rihanna-founded intimates, loungewear, and sportswear brand, is partnering with Nordstrom, its first wholesale partner in the U.S. The brand will be available at 16 select Nordstrom stores. (WWD

Bobbi Brown’s brand Jones Road has opened its Williamsburg, Brooklyn location. The store also offers makeup lessons and services to help customers get glammed up for events in addition to trying out the products in person. (Forbes)

  • Hanesbrands Inc. sold the store operations for Hanes Outlet and Maidenform to Hilco Consumer-Retail.
  • Winky Lux (makeup brand) sold a majority stake to CORE Industrial Partners.
  • Overnight Oats raised a $35M from Enlightened Hospitality Investments.
  • unspun™ (apparel manufacturer) raised $32M in order to acquire 3D weaving machines.
  • Maurten (Swedish sports nutrition) raised $22M from IRIS Ventures & existing investors.
  • BIBBI PARFUM (Swedish fragrance brand) received a significant minority investment from Fable and JamJar.
  • Clutch (marketplace for digital marketing services) has been acquired by the online social network Plaiced.
