KEY INDICATORS

  • Festival fashion is shifting toward unique looks, driving attendees to fast fashion for statement pieces and vintage finds for differentiation. Brands like Revolve and Guess Jeans maintain a strong presence, while Gap is taking a new approach at Coachella as the official apparel sponsor with its practical “Hoodie House” activation. (Glossy)

  • Boll & Branch is using AI like Google‘s NotebookLM and its proprietary agent, Tess (built with OpenClaw), to optimize operations. Tess, which started as a scheduler, now integrates with SlackShopify, and Iterable for customer reports. (Glossy)
  • Google‘s AI-powered ad tools have delivered significant results for some brands, with Aritzia seeing an 80% increase in revenue after enabling AI Max. Other brands are also leveraging Google’s AI features; Poshmark and Reebok are early adopters of the “business agent” feature, while E.l.f. BeautyChewy, and L’Oréal are testing the new “direct offers” pilot program. (Modern Retail)

  • Victoria’s Secret achieved its first annual growth in four years, crediting the 2024 turnaround plan and renewed focus on bra innovation. The “Path to Potential” strategy, centered on “supercharging bras” with new products like the FlexFactor Lightly Lined bra and the Invisible Strapless Collection (modeled by Angel Reese), drove the positive results. (Retail Brew)

  • Abercrombie & Fitch Co. uses geofencing via its mobile app to survey non-purchasing customers post-store visit. Opt-in app users receive a push notification requesting feedback an hour after leaving, incentivized with loyalty points. This provides store managers with near real-time insights into the in-store experience, allowing quick resolution of issues like layout or wait times. (Retail Dive)

  • Unilever is set to acquire Grüns to enhance its premium Beauty & Wellbeing portfolio. Grüns is a digitally native, science-backed brand focused on making daily nutrient support enjoyable to improve adherence. The deal, which will expand Grüns’ reach through Unilever’s scale, is expected to close later this year. (Unilever)
